In the period from October 2, 2021 to January 8, 2022, the Poggiali Gallery in Florence will host the exhibition Colori nelle mani (Colors in the hands) by Austrian artist Arnulf Rainer (Baden, December 8, 1929) under the curatorship of Helmut Friedel. The exhibition can be seen in the Gallerys' two locations in Via della Scala and Via Benedetta. Strategica Group, thanks to the experience of its Art Insurance Division, has been chosen as an insurance partner of the exhibition.
The exhibition offers forty-four (44) unpublished paintings, especially chosen throughout recurrent meetings with the artist, especially coming from works that came to light between 1981 and 1985, from the series of works created by marking the surface with a pictorial power directly with the fingers and hands. "They are works containing a great gestural power, corporeal, intense painting that amazes and fascinates. We wanted to propose the paintings that have had the greatest impact on the evolution of contemporary art and in particular, on the last 50 years of this great artist painting, a living icon - says Lorenzo Poggiali, gallery manager of Galleria Poggiali - and it was an honor to be able to select them with his support, as guests of his charming studio in Upper Austria".
In addition to this series, the exhibition documents the subsequent fase of Rainer's career with works from the early 1990s characterized by a further pictorial intensity, up to and including a large cross (Kreuz - Untitled, 1998) completely black, witness to the desecrating and surprising attitude of the artist. "It was not easy to prepare this exhibition - adds Poggiali - which had a long gestation not only because of the difficulties and uncertainties related to the pandemic, but also because this is an artist with an incredible career and museum presence. Major structures of the caliber of Moma, Pompidou and Tate Gallery have over 20 of his works in their collections, purchased directly."
"Precisely because of the great value of these works, we chose to rely on Strategica Group, a company whose professionalism and confidentiality we recognize," explains Poggiali. "We are very proud to have been identified by the prestigious Galleria Poggiali as a technical partner for this project - confirms Rosalba Acquaviva, Director of Strategica Group's Art Insurance Division - The art world has peculiar characteristics and dynamics: protecting it requires a deep knowledge of both insurance solutions and the art sector itself, in all its complexities, rules and criticalities. For this reason, our team is composed of professionals with many years of proven experience, highly specialized in technical terms, able to understand the meaning of the works and, last but not least, motivated by a real love for the world of art, culture and beauty".
The works on display in Florence are insured with the All Risks formula "from nail to nail". This term identifies the policies that protect a work of art against all the risks to which it is subject during the period of an exhibition, from the moment in which it is removed from its original location to the moment in which it returns (from nail to nail). The works, in this way, are protected at all stages of the project. This is a guarantee that is activated at the moment in which the works are packed to undertake the first transport, continues during the journey and any intermediate stops, continues for the duration of the exhibition, covers the return journey and any intermediate stops and finally ends when the work is returned to its place of departure.
The exhibition, which will be inaugurated on October 2, will be accompanied by an extensive catalog with an essay by the curator of the exhibition, Helmut Friedel, director of the Rainer Museum in Baden, a critical text by Giovanni Iovane, director of the Brera Academy in Milan, and one by Sergio Risaliti, director of the Novecento Museum in Florence.
