Brescia Photo Festival dedicated to the statue Vittoria Alata (Winged Victory)

The reopening of exhibitions and museums in Brescia - from 8th May to 17th October- brings a series of artistic events to life. Strategica contributes as the insurance broker, through its Fine Art Division.

The return of the statue Vittoria Alata(Winged Victory) to Brescia is at the heart of the locals. This extraordinary bronze statue from the Roman era is back, following two years of restoration. It is now displayed in the eastern hall of the Capitolium, an exhibition designed by the Spanish architect Juan Navarro Baldeweg in Brixia – the Archaeological Park of Roman Brescia.

In addition to this much awaited moment, the 4th edition of the Brescia Photo Festival is back again from 8th May to 17th October 2021, after rescheduling due to the pandemic outbreak.

Vittoria Alata is linked to the theme of the Festival "Heritage", a celebration through the images of famous photographers, which show the richness of the remains of ancient civilizations and their reinterpretations in other forms, namely film sets or new architecture inspired by the classical era. The initiative- organized by Renato Corsini- is promoted by the City of Brescia and the Brescia Museums Foundation in association with MaCof - Center of Italian photography.

The main exhibition centres in Brescia will host the photographs of several Italian image artists. The Museum of Santa Giulia, “Luigi Marzoli” Armaments Museum, MO.CA Cultural Centre, Spazio Contemporanea, Civic Museum of Natural History, Bunkervik , Poliambulanza Foundation of Brescia, the art galleries of the city and the province will open their spaces to the photographic works of Gianni Berengo Gardin, Ferdinando Scianna, Francesco Cito, Franco Fontana, Elio Ciol, Donata Pizzi and many others, who are chosen to interpret the cultural, archaeological, historical and social value of identity heritage, from Roman antiquity to the contemporary scene.

The exhibition “Alfred Seiland. Imperivm Romanvm - Photos 2005-2020 " will have a particular significance in the Festival. The venue is the Museum of Santa Giulia from 8th May to 17th October 2021. The exhibition organized by Filippo Maggia and Francesca Morandini, co-produced with Skira, presents, for the first time in Italy, as many as 136 images taken from Imperivm Romanvm, a great project developed over fifteen years of work by the Austrian photographer Alfred Seiland. The aim of Seiland's work is the collection and interpretation of images representing the archaeological sites of what was once the Roman Empire, stretching from Syria to Scotland, up to the countries bordering the Mediterranean. The mission: recording the remains and simulating their contemporary interactions with the environment and people.

Over 15 years of this work in progress, Alfred Seiland came across the remains of Palmyra, Samaria or Epidaurus as well as the Colosseum, the spas in Bath and the Pont du Gard in Provence, for a total of over 40 countries which he visited. Therefore, the Photo Festival of Brescia presents itself as a network of events based on different themes and venues, and Strategica -with its Fine Art division- gives its contribution with the “All Risks” insurance coverage on the works at the various exhibitions.
